Scalp Psoriasis Treatment.

Is there any effective treatment to reduce the scale and inflamation? -Hello there. I've recently had a bad flare up with my scalp psoriasis. It is getting quite annoying and not going away. I have some dovobet gel my doctor has given me previously. However, this doesn't come out of my hair too well, leaving me with REALLY greasy hair, which makes things difficult for me as I'd rather not leave the house.

I don't know if this will help at all but at one point I had a problem with eczema around and under my hairline and I started using Dead Sea Shampoo which I got from Boots on-line. This helped enormously and I eventually was able to go back to using ordinary shampoos.

Hello, I use DiproSalic Scalp application. Drizzle onto scalp close to the head, feels like cool water, not greasy and so calming to the scalp. Non sufferers do not understand how depressing this condition is, all I can say to you is ask your Doctor if you can try this. As for shampoo etc. they are mostly made for cleaning the hair so can be too harsh for the scalp. Try a good baby shampoo, watered down before putting on head.

one more is Doublebase Emollient wash gel. No bubbles and you only need a little, can use it all over the body including your head. Hope this is of some help. If those people at work seem a bit off it may be that they don't understand what you are going through or the have no idea of the problem and think you are a bit stand offish. Have a think about it, it's not easy with Psoriasis.......hang in there!!

My apologies to you, all the information I gave was right but when I put the bit about people at work I was most certainly having a senior moment!! That related to a different person and I do apologise.

I was advised by a practice nurse to massage olive oil into the scalp wo soften the scabs and then wash off aboutm8 hours later in the morning . It did work but it took the entire scalp with it. now that I no longer hand around witch doctors I have been prescribed a scalp application called secco for use during the night and a coconut/coal tar shampoo for the morning . Neither is as effective as dovobet abut at least their non steroid however the smell is not great and I find my worst areas are where the hairline meets the scalp and areas of thin skin eg just above the ears at the temples and at the very back of the head

I use capasal shampoo it's not the best smelling but it does the job

Thank You everyone, for your help. Some of the products suggested contain coal tar (which is helpful for some) but unfortunately, I'm allergic. Ha! Oh well. But I will give these suggestions a try
