Dermatitis returned after steroid treatment

I have recently developed severe eczema, and after 6 months I was finally prescribed a 6 week course of prednisolone. Soon after the end of the course of steroids, my condition returned. My skin is intensely uncomfortable. Am undergoing blood tests but so far not conclusive.

Oh dear I am so vexed to hear this. That's the problem, treatment for one condition can make your other condition worse.

Hi, same thing ... all over and constantly tearing at mh flesh to stop the deep itching. Took Steroid tabs (drove me bit bonkers) but as soon as stopped after 6 week course, tben all have come b ack. No solutions but just paid private consultant in desperation. Just sharing ... you are not the only one with this!Am now spending lot of time feeling ill and in b ed warm so less itchy. Diazepam helps a bit - presumably as dulls symptoms.

Thanks so much for your message. For most of my life I never anticipated that a skin barrier break down could be so miserable. But perhaps the answer is to calibrate the lowest dose of Pred that will keep it bay, and try to adapt to that as a long term solution. All the best.

earlier I started treating myself with 5 mg pred indesperation but dr. said that was uselesss so stopped. Fed up with itching!!!!!!! and blood everywhere! Now on some other steroid cream. Feel overwhelmed withall the stuff and trying to find a way through. Don't think people realise what it is like going on for so long. Scratching is exhausting!
