Hi I'm new on here due to my dermatologist asking me to do my own research into this drug. Ive read the info from the nhs and have taken in the possible side effects. The consultant did explain that this was quite a big step up from the doxycycline I have been taking, which hasn't touched the adult acne and rosacea I have on my face. My problem area is the sides of my nose and chin. Due to constant spots i habe very red skin. I also have had a large number of boils on my face which leave scarring but they appear anywhere. I'm sure if you suffer with acne them you'll understand how embarrassing it is to communicate with others. I hate talking to others or people looking at me! It's really knocked my confidence. Acne started 10years ago when I had my first child, after having my second and third it's just got out of hand!
I looking for opinions and experiences that others have had while taking this drug. I will be glad of any info you have to offer!

My wife suffered from severe Acne from her teenage years and tried lots of different 'remedies' without success. At around 40 we moved area and her new GP who is really good, referred her to a NHS dermatologist. This dermatologist did recommend a six month course on Isotretinoin which is also sometimes called Roaccutane. We had read about the potential side effects of this treatment, but Acne itself causes a lot of psychological distress as it greatly impacts on self-esteem.
Once my wife started the course the impact was dramatic as her skin became drier and she stopped getting new spots. As time went on the old spots healed and her skin complexion improved. Her confidence also improved as she was less worried about suddenly breaking out in spots. After the course finished her Acne is effectively cured. She now gets the occasional spot when stressed or around periods, but it is fairly rare.
Good luck as this is a very difficult decision. One thing to remember about side effects of drugs is that they don't affect everyone and as this is a prescription drug, the NHS doctors will be monitoring you during the treatment.
if soolantra might help you then the natural alternative to it might also be of help...finca skin organics type 2 rosacea serum on rosacea.ie it works by killing off some of the demodex mites which live on your skin and come out at night which is why the serum is applied at night ..hope this is of help to you
