strange thought

I’ve had this thought since yesterday which seems bizarre to me, but this is OCD. It’s this feeling of being in my body looking out. It’s like I can’t stop being aware of this thought/ feeling and I am not sure how to deal with it. Would love any thoughts about this. Thanks.

Hi Lauragbr. Yes, this is how I live my life. Like I'm disconnected from everything. Like you're looking through glass at what's going on and you're not really part of the situation. That's the way I feel it.

hello,

This is a common feeling among many people with ocd. In fact, I too am dealing with that same feeling. My therapist said that even sensations or feelings are ocd thoughts. When we analyze those sensations, it’s no different than the thoughts. I’m sorry to hear you are feeling this way, hopefully hearing that others also feel this way gives you some sense of relief. This is my first time going through this type of feeling so I understand. I am working through this along side.

Hello!

This is a common anxiety symptom that isn't just OCD (PTSD, GAD, etc). It's called depersonalization/derealization (depending on what you are experiencing). OCD can DEFINITELY make it worse, 100%! You can't stop focusing on, "Holy crud, I'm not real, this is crazy, I'm not real."

If you have a therapist/psychiatrist, talk to them about it. I haven't found a cure for it besides becoming numb, so I can't really give the best advice on it.
