I have had OCD since the age of 9. I am now 79. To the younger readers I just want to say do not give up hope. The disease is painful and waxes and wanes; however, you can still have a meaningful life. Seek treatment, and practice acts of kindness toward yourself and others.

Thank you for the reminder that hope will sustain us.

Thank you Gavriel 👍
Hi Gavriel, thank you for the encouragement. It’s helpful to know that you’ve been able to live a meaningful life and manage OCD. Out of curiosity, have you ever used medication to manage OCD? I am considering that, but am not sure which/if any medications might be helpful.
I have been on Meds for decades alongside therap.y. MY OCD is mostly in the thought area-unwanted shameful thoughts. Do not feel qualified to suggest a particular mEdication. You might want to consider a nurse-practitioner in pyschiatry who can prescribe. Please let me know from time-to-time how u r doing. Gavriel
