Hi! I'm sorry, I don't know too much about the allergy side of things. But in terms of your question about OCD, it depends. How regularly do you do this washing of clothes? And do you only do it to give you short-term/temporary relief from your fears? Then there is a chance it could be OCD. However, there is also a good chance that this could just be you taking caution with your allergies or just some general anxiety.
Thank you for your response. So where does one draw the line between general anxiety and ocd?
I got to the point where i really only wash it if i was near the allergen for a while. The ocd is probably when i wash an article of clothes that touched the article above (the one near the allergen for a while). Does that make sense?
That definitely does make sense! Allergies are a normal thing to worry about.
Of course I'm not a professional, but in my opinion with OCD you get intrusive thoughts and you would feel like you would absolutely HAVE to wash all of your clothes, otherwise you would get an allergic reaction (and these actions, known as 'compulsions', would provide you with a sense of relief). With general anxiety, you would still feel concerned/worries and wash your clothes to be on the safe side, but you wouldn't get this overwhelming sense of absolutely having to do it if that makes sense?
