I use EFT tapping. That way I confront the thought directly and it seems to help me.

Sure, here is the description from Nick Ortner's website: The basic Tapping technique requires you to focus on a negative emotion at hand. This can be a fear, a worry, a bad memory, or any unresolved problem. You do this while maintaining your mental focus on this issue. Then you use your fingertips to tap 5-7 times on 9 specific meridian points of the body.

Tapping on these meridian endpoints, while addressing the root cause of distress, sends a calming signal to the brain. This allows you to feel relaxed and in control.

It doesn't work for everyone (my niece who has OCD doesn't like it at all) but it is the only thing that has made a difference in my OCD and it's my main source of OCD management. There are loads of videos on youtube and Nick has an app that has lots of free stuff too. I suggest doing your own research because as I said, it's not for everyone. :) good luck!!

try relaxation. means deep breath and hold it for 5 seconds and expiration slowly. this for 12 times until the intrusive thought passes, like a storm or a cloud, the therapist said leave it to passes like a storm. at least you can try.
