Hey everyone! This is my second post on the forum. I could probably post several times a day with all the questions I have, but that seems a bit obsessive. Haha, get it. Sorry trying to insert some humor. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else on the forum has had Covid? I was diagnosed in late October and that was when my OCD lapsed with a mighty vengeance. I am currently struggling immensely, some days are better than others. I upped medication and started seeing a new psychologist, but after two visits I realized that even though she was very nice, she was not what I needed in helping with OCD. I actually have an appointment in January with a new doctor I found on the IOCDF website, so I'm hopeful she can help me. Anyway about Covid, has anyone else that has had it had any other neurological issues? Before Covid I seemed to be doing really well, just living life and handling OCD fine, then boom! OCD to the max!! I had intense headaches and sometimes when the anxiety got so physically bad it felt at time like the nerves in my brain were literally burning! It would shoot heat through my entire body. This was also occurring while I had increased my medication, so I'm not certain if it was the medication increase or Covid or a combination of the two. I was on 20 mg of celexa for about 8 years and doing really well, so I just went up to 30mg. My headaches and the burning sensation in my head has improved, but isn't gone completely. I'm scheduled to see a neurologist in February, I've never seen one before. Maybe I can get some answers to what is happening in my brain. I was just curious about anyone else's experiences with actually having OCD and Covid, from a more physical perspective. Although I'm interested how the virus affected people with OCD on any level. Sorry for the long post, just curious. Thanks everyone!
Affects of having Covid. : Hey everyone... - My OCD Community
Affects of having Covid.
Hi
I have had Covid. No need for hospital care - but I was sick for almost six months. My OCD got worse with the infection, and I found out that I had cognitive problems like memory loss and hard to concentrate. I´m in a facebook group for "Covid longhaulers" in Sweden it seems to be a common problem with anxiety and cognitive problems also to people without these problems before their infection. Sounds good that you will see a neurologist . I´m sorry you have these problems. I have had extreme fatigue afterwards and I can see that this also affect my possibilities to manage my OCD.
That is interesting to hear. It just seems like my OCD returned so suddenly and so strong. Perhaps it had been building for a period of time and just got worse with the Covid. I did not have to be hospitalized with Covid either, I really did not have terrible physical symptoms like coughing or anything, but the OCD and anxiety symptoms are still bothering me immensely. It is a real struggle everyday, but I know it can and will get better with time. It has improved some over the weeks, but by no means am I back to my old self. I have heard that many people with Covid suffer from some neurological issues after being diagnosed. I'm sure we'll learn more about the long terms affects as time goes on. I hope you continue to improve.
