Asking for reassurance is a common compulsion in the OCD world and I don't blame you. ⁣🤪 We are designed to problem solve and to relieve anxiety. The problem is; reassurance only works temporarily. Causing the individual to continue to seek it out again later. ⁣👍⠀

⠀Through exposure and response prevention, we learn to sit with the anxiety or distress and practice seeking uncertainty while not giving in to the compulsions. See if you can practice not asking for reassurance today and act like it doesn't bother you.

I have tried this a lot and I don’t see how it works? Does not for me. Like if you have something that is itching it you don’t itch it it won’t itch? You will forget you have poison ivy. Whish it worked for me. Hop it works for others.
