I thought I would share an experience that Sue and I went through the other weekend which highlights keeping a close eye on things and reacting quickly.
Sue went to the local hospice on Friday for a crafts afternoon, yes even with her shakes she manages to create some kind of artwork and an image is enclosed of diamante artwork she has been doing and I have no idea how she manages this....
She returns Friday afternoon tired, this is normal.
She goes to bed early on Friday which again is normal.
Saturday we get up at a normal time but she is tired, again this is normal after a hospice visit.
Saturday evening 6pm she has had a couple of hours snooze, which is normal but she is a bit "out of it" when i wake her up. But she has a snack and a cuppa.
7pm she as back asleep, which is not unusual, i check her pulse, 02 and Temp and they are in within normal levels.
8pm she is more slurred when i wake her so i decide to get her to bed. Her SATS are are all normal, except temperature is rising ( 37C). This is now a trigger for me to watch more closely as she is uncommunicative, not very aware, very tired and a temp is rising.
8.30pm Temp is now 38C all other levels are normal and Sue is struggling to wake up....
Decision time Ambulance or my own meds. I decide my own meds and she doesn't react then its ambulance as Sue is clearly fighting an infection of some sort. I have emergency antibiotics so first dose now with Paracetamol.
9pm Temp is 38.5C
9.30 Temp 38.4
10pm Temp 37.9
10.30 Temp 37.5
11pm Temp 36.9..... phew I think we've done it..
11.30 another dose of antibiotics
12.00 sleeping is relaxed I can go to bed.
1.30am / 3am / 4.30am / 6am Sue needs the toilet and she is coming around.
It would seem she had some kind of gastric flu / bug.
One week later.... Sue shaking has now got worse.
This is meant to show you that this condition only shows another illness at a later stage whereas you and I would "feel" ill first.
Take care out there.
