Hi everyone I wonder if anyone has been prescribed gabapentin For this beast of a disease I am finding a lot of the tablets they give me make me Dopey and numb , Wonder if anyone has experience of this medication , & any nasty side-effects , take care kind regards Chris

My nerve pain was successfully treated with gabapentin for many years. I took it at bedtime. It also helped me sleep but didn’t make me drowsy the following day.For me it did not help with other body pain.

I was taken off of it 18 months ago due to leg swelling. There was a marked difference. Something to consider if you have severe orthostatic symptoms.

I sincerely hope that you can find something to help you. Feeling dopey and numb just adds more daily frustration.

More to make you smile than anything useful…gabapentin is what the vet gives my elderly cat to make grooming of her matted hair more tolerable-precisely because it makes her drowsy and numb! Horrible feeling which makes everything feel so much harder (for humans who don’t want to sleep all day anyway!)

HiMy Sue has been on Gabapentin for many a year which we did increase to pregabalin later. They are used as a nurse pain inhibitor and we still use it very successfully with matrifen patches.

Sue was drowzy at first but after a while she was normal.

She does suffer with leg swelling but that is more down to inactivity.
