I'd say theres a fair chance it is, but the MSA trust nurses could explain better how it all works. Kx

Morning

Hubby had terrible stomach pains on and off and we could not pinpoint it for a year. Even dietician got involved and the continence nurses also tried. In the end 2 things helped. One he is now on colonic irrigation every second day and then he started on the neupro patches, which also helped and he is now pain free and can eat everything (especially sugary stuff). Maybe start talking with the continence nurses about colonic irrigation. Hubby suffered constipation for many many years before and life suddenly looks much brighter now, he does not have to worry if there is a loo nearby just in case.

there are different options out there, and as I don't know what else the problem might be, you best check and discuss the scan and if you are in the UK you can get referal to continence team or dietician or both. We have been to both places.

Hi

The stomach pain could be many things including reactions to infections or medication, which unfortunately is something MSA sufferers get a lot of.

Check with your GP for infections and also speak to the continence nurses.

Thankyou will see if anything comes back on ct scan if nothing will have to get follow up with gp.

Mum's system is now very sensitive. The challenge now is managing the side effects of all her drugs - we were advised that often MSA makes side effects worse - it's a real balancing act! The smallest change or infection (with no symptoms) can make her system worse.

Environment and diet - MSA

Hi.

Just thought i'd drop this into the forum as its a recent article that supports the hypothesis that gut microbiome is linked to the pathogenesis and treatment of MSA and PD.

Read with caution, as this has not yet been proven in a clinical setting.

There are however a growing number of other new research articles linking the gut to MSA and PD.

Will let you know how we get on after speaking with a gut specialist.
