Some good news - MSA

Hi all.

Fantastic news, our brothers recent spectroscopy now shows he is improving!! This is the first case of MSA in history of the patient improving.

My other brother has researched circa 20,000 peer reviewed studies and articles around gluten, msa, parkinsons, synucleinopathy and gut issues.

Although going gluten free undoubtedly improves gluten related ataxia, literature shows that it does not stop MSA.

What we have learned throughout the research is that gut microbiome disruption to gut barrier and induces a synuclein (which has now been found to be an anti microbial peptide.. AKA... the body's natural defence to bacteria invasion).... and antibiotics and omeprazole cause dysbiosis!!!

Happy to share any info you need but do share this info with your doctor.

Its not all bad news anymore, we have shown that changing diet, taking curcumin, probiotics, prebiotics and stopping omeprazole improves MSA!!!!

Good luck

Thanks much for your post Juliehabib

Could I please ask what diet did your brother follow? I’m a terrible dolt - am unclear about what you’ve mentioned

.

Would really appreciate more details of the diet including dosages as I’m keen to give it a go

(I was diagnosed last year with MSA)

Best regards

that’s great to hear , ive heard lots of good reports on gut diet improving health ,my friend works for a company called synergy , they are supplements which helped her mother in law who had signs of dementia and it really helped her memory i didn’t get a chance to try it on my dad but it sounds like that sort of diet works well

This is really interesting and and like the others who replied, I would also like to know more about the diet. My husband has been diagnosed with MSA recently and he also takes omeprozole, so would definitely like to know more about it.

My father had MSA, I have dysautonomia symptoms and PDD-NOS (a form of autism).

I had really bad GERD a few years ago and had to take PPIs (omeprazole and esomeprazole). They didn't work well for me, I seemed to get rebound and had to keep upping the dose for less and less effect. My gastroenterologist offered surgery. I stopped taking the PPIs and switched to Alka Seltzer at night for some relief. I had started doing broccoli sprout smoothies (20g in 150 mL water) for autism symptoms - and my GERD got better. It comes back if I miss doing the broccoli sprout smoothies several days in a row.

I don't know if this will help anyone with GERD due to MSA, though.

Hi Julie, that’s such great news to hear that your brother has seen some improvement. I read some of the Journal articles you shared in your other posts on gut Microbiome and MSA and found them very interesting. My father has recently been diagnosed with MSA but has had symptoms for at least a couple of years. I suspect he has had a disrupted microbiome for many years, as about 35years ago he contracted a hospital super bug when getting minor surgery. He ended up with septicemia which was not responding to many of the antibiotics. They gave him all the possible drugs they could and told my mother to say her good byes as he was not responding to any of them, but in the end he finally pulled through. Ever since he has had chronic allergies/ hay fever, which I now think may be linked to his gut health, which likely would have been affected by the very high dose antibiotics. A few weeks ago he started the Microbiome Labs Total Gut Restoration system, which is a 3 month course of supplements which consist of a probiotic, then precision prebiotics, followed by mucosal support. He is also gluten and diary free and takes curcumin . I was wondering whether you had any other articles/ studies you found particularly interesting or relevant to MSA regarding diet or gut health, or if you had any other suggestions of things your brother tried and found helpful? One of the Journal articles you shared mentioned grape seed Polyphenol extract supplementation. Has your brother tried taking the grape the seed extract? Thanks, Maya
