Hi llij. nice to meet you. Sadly I have no experience of abdominal binders and up tim just the last 2 weeks the postural Hypotension hasn't been much of an issue but I will be interested to see if anyone else replies with experiences.

Best wishes, Diane

Hello again IIij,

I forgot when I placed my earlier post that at our last MSA Worcestershire Support Group meeting our MSA Trust specialist nurse, Jill Lyons demonstrated a new style abdominal binder. Have you spoken to the Trust or one of their nurses?

Hello Pauline. I'm no expert but I found this on the internet..."Orthostatic hypotension is an abnormal drop in blood pressure when standing from a seated or lying down position ... An Abdominal compression – Wearing an abdominal binder helps to decrease orthostatic hypotension."

Take care, Ian

Hi this is Kelly and my Mom has these episodes mainly in the mornings when I get her out of bed and onto her potty. The episode looks just like she is possessed and is pretty scary. I have gotten so use to them by now.

We tried three different types, but were never able to find one that Chris found comfortable and that didn’t ride up /down.

Hi I have severe postural hypotension. Took part in some research which looked at effects of drinking 900mls water or using binder on postural hypotension. Personally increasing the fluid helped me. Though I still get dizzy I haven’t passed out for 4 months as I drink water before I get up on a morning. Research result will be out in July,I think.
