recurrent swellings and cellulitis..i am on hydroxycarbamide & aspirin and have experienced these. Anyone have info re this and ulcers
Yes, ulcers in the mouth which take a long time to heal. I'd suggest you contact your consultant for a blood test.
yes. thanks for reply. I have had mouth ulcers but I was also thinking of leg ulcers
Hi Liarose, you should get some advice from your haematologist about the recurrent swellings and cellulitis. Maz
I had an ulcer on my ankle bone which developed in cellulitis. I finished up in hospital for 8 days. The first thing they did was to stop my hydroxcarbamide and put me on an antibiotic drip (apparently the hydroxcarbamide blocks the antibiotic from working) After the 8 days the swelling in my leg had subsided but my platelet count was over 1000, so I was put back on hyd and within a relatively short period of time my platelet count was back to manageable levels, I was also on 75mg aspirin. A year later I had a serious stomach bleed and spent another 7 days in hospital although this was put down to a combination of aspirin and anagrelide which I had been put on approximately 6 months prior to stomach bleed. I am now back on hydroxcarbamide 1.5/1.0 grm alternate days and 0.5mg anagrelide daily, I no longer take aspirin I have ET. My condition is presently under control.
