Hi Elcid, thrombophlebitis (often known as superficial thrombophlebitis) is the inflammation of a vein just under the skin caused by a blood clot. The area affected usually being the leg.
It's not a pleasant experience, I had one around five years ago and still have discomfort in the affected area today.
For more info, see patient.co.uk or just google thrombophlebitis.
Hope this helps. x
Hi Elcid,
My doctor (once he realised what it was) suggested NSAID gel- just rub on the affected area as the instructions say. You can buy it from supermarkets, chemist etc, no need for a prescription. Not sure if you should speak to the pharmacist when in the shop just to make sure your partner/wife is safe to take it if she also has an MPD. Hope this helps.
