hope you're all doing as well as you can. I have a question about curcumin, not for myself, but for my husband who has terminal bowel cancer. He has decided to try a few more blasts of chemo to see if it will slow the progress for a while. The chemo, however, knocks him for six. My daughter has read a report (from a reputable source, but can't remember where) that turmeric can help ease the side effects of chemo. I remember a conversation about it on here, and remember someone saying that there's a particular supplement that has something added that makes the body absorb the curcumin/turmeric better. Can anyone here remind me what that was.
Thanks everyone.
Regards, Liz

I’m really sorry to hear about your husbands terminal diagnosis.
if you look to the right of this page you will see ‘Related Posts.’ There are about four posts on the topic of Circumin. I hope you find answers there.
Thanks, I forgot about the search option and have just read several of the posts. We're fully intending to give it a go, anything is worth a try if it helps him feel better.
There's 2 forms. One has a brand name of meriva which has phospholipid complex to absorb 29% more than usual. The other is black pepper (piperine) is hugely more absorbable (2000%) but need to be cautious as pepper magnifies the effects of medication & can cause toxicity. It is recommended not to take any more than 15 grams per day.
Curcumin is fat soluble so taking it with food or good fats enhances its absorption. Also make sure that the label states it has more than 95% curcuminoids otherwise he'll not get the benefits.
CBC oil helps with nausea & benefits cells in the body.
Google Ty Bollinger (truth about cancer), they have a lot of interesting articles.
thanks for that info, never thought of looking into clinical trials, as he was on one, but not able to cope with the level of chemo needed for the trial to go on - never thought of looking to see if there was anything myself. He's going to try the curcumin, if it does something for him, might try it for myself, though my condition is PV, so not sure.
I capsule form, black pepper is one of the things that will help the body absorb the turmeric-curcumin blend. There are other things too. Stick with reliable brand and look for a rating of the bioavailability. In food, oils help the turmeric-curcumin cross the intestonal barrier. Stir-fry is better than soup. Hope that helps. Blessings to you and your spouse.
I’m also very sorry that your husband has bowel cancer. I use turmeric a lot at home. Regarding bowel cancer, what I remember:
(I’m not a specialist and you should research all the info on your own)
1. Curcumin should be taken with pepper.
2. it is fat soluble, therefore it is taken with a bit of oil if the body should take it up through the small intestine, BUT (as I’ve read) if you want it to help treat bowel cancer, which sits in the large intestine, it should be taken with water, so that it moves directly to the cancer in the large intestine.
3. (turmeric and Curcumin kills the mother cancer cells!, chemo kills only the daughter cells, that’s why cancer often comes back),

I have followed the 10 day course given by Chris below. He had stage 3 bowel cancer, had the operation to remove the cancer and then after spending weeks studying, refused chemo at the time when there was hardly any info or support groups in internet. He cured himself. His advice is incredible. That helped me help my cousin who was diagnosed with bladder cancer last October, immensely. He was able to help his chemo along beautifully. In February, he was clean and he still continues taking Curcumin, apricot seeds and keeps the cancer diet. It’s worth it to dive into this a bit. As soon as I’ve gotten all my amalgams out and have detoxed, I will follow his cancer diet and treatments. Who knows, it may work on ET also. Hope to have helped! You have my prayers.
