Looking back at my blood test leading up to the op they found that my platelet were very high, so before I had my first appointment with the Haematologist, they did some more blood test. I came back being JAK2 positive. Since then I have been put on aspirin and Hydrocarbamide and had regular blood test, my counts are coming down. I have not had any further tests, like a bone marrow biopsy or scans. I was just wondering because I am JAK2 positive is this the reaseon why. Should I have the other test done or ask for them to be done to make sure the diagnose is the correct one as MPD are closely link to each other, or am I just being over anxious.

Hi, I would say if the Haematologist has confrimed that you are JAK2 positive then that is that. (probably no need for futher tests). In my own case i was given a bone marrow biopsy which did confirm my diagnose of polycythemia vera.
