Ruxo and Moderna

I had my Moderna jab last Thursday and still getting highish temperatures (38c) although easily controlled by paracetamol. First time with Ruxo, was on Pegasys previously.

I assumed I’d be over it after 4 days and wondering if this is usual?

I typically get over COVID vaccine symptoms in about 24 hours while on Besremi. Four days seems rather long; however, my understanding s that some people can take up to 5 days for symptoms to completely resolve. Suggest you call your care team if not feeling better soon.

You're at day 4 by the timing you indicated. So it's not way out of line from your prior yet. You don't have any new neurological issues, is that right?

Has your vax reaction resolved?

No, over a week now and still struggling to keep a lid on the high temperature - over 38C with no paracetamol.

Had extensive blood tests yesterday and now on precautionary antibiotics. My CRP has shot up to 56 and ESR 61.

CRP normally well under 1.

I’m wondering if autoimmune problem even though I stopped Besremi two months ago.

Just tried taking Nurofen rather than Paracetamol

Autoimmune (A-I) is a plausible suspect since you said before that you acquired A-I while on Bes. You also suggested before some adverse reactions to the Covid vax while on Bes. Can you recall what those reactions were? In hindsight, adverse vax reactions while on IFN should be signal to pause till the reaction is resolved.

In the Sjogren's forum adverse vaccine reactions are frequent enough that it's not controversial or way outlier. It's frustrating for me since I'd like to get them.

In my case three months after the events and quitting IFN was the fork in the road. I think I nearly exited the Sjo but fell to the wrong side of the wall at that time.

Your inflam numbers should offer something discoverable. In another post together I noted serum gammaglobulin test. Have you done that or others on the A-I panels?

Has your Dr discussed TNF inhibitors? These failed for Sjo but seem to be standard for Crohn's.

On the Covid vaxes, some on the Sjo forum have found the Novavax to be easier tolerated. Our new US gov't has made trouble on its approval but it's still avail on the emergency use. I think UK has it avail.

Thanks EP, my temperature spiked to 38C at 3 am last night having suck at 35.5-36C most of the evening. I took the Nurofen at 3.15pm Friday.

Hence appears the antibiotics are ineffective (no infection) so only really leaves autoimmune. Especially as it appears to responds better to Nurofen than Paracetamol.

Unfortunately finished my last Prednisolone 5mg this morning, I was tapering down from 40mg for my oesophagus ulceration. Prednisolone seems the first treatment option for A-I.

Previous CV reactions have been plain vanilla, a day of highish temperatures and sore arm

I will be discussing potential A-I issues with my doc on Tuesday, not sure what additional tests he ran last Wednesday. My ESR was over 60 so that’s an indicator.

Thanks for your advice

I agree with CRP and ESR like that something must be discoverable.

You're right on the A-I, Prednisolone for Sjo can also be a short term or episodic help. Hoping you can find a sustainable solution.
