Transplant Postponement Update

I was informed today that my donor is no longer available. The team is now exploring other options, and it looks like the best path forward may be a haploidentical (haplo) transplant with my brother as the donor.

It’s frustrating when things don’t go as planned, but I’m trying to stay hopeful. If you or someone you know has had a successful haplo stem cell transplant, I’d love to hear your story—it would mean a lot right now.

Thanks for your support!

Hi matey, that’s so frustrating especially as was late in the day. Remain positive, am sure your team will have a backup plan so keep the faith and keep us updated.

A bit of “shed”time is called for I think….

Speak soon

Sorry to hear this Hatchie, it must be very frustrating but stay positive and have faith in your transplant team to provide an option that’s best for you.

Best wishes

Hatchie - I found this video helpful from an mpn organization about transplants. It actually covers haplo vs allogenic and the nuances between them.

From what I gather, a lot of progress has been made in the field

yeah, young ET patients too. I am not as far down the road but I’m young-ish and will probably need it at some point in the future.

Hi from across the ditch.

I am 6+ years post a haplo transplant, my son was my donor. Initially I had a MUD transplant for MF. It quickly failed.

Also know another kiwi who had MF/AML. Similar story, initial MUD transplant failed, now 6 years post a successful haplo transplant, son donor.

Both of us are doing well.

Nice to see the on going progress referenced in the video highlighted by dbus1417.

Best wishes, Simon
