There are some cautions fo rbe aware of with ruxolitinib and hepatic impairment. That would be something to discuss with your MPN care team.
There is some evidence that RUX might actually help with the UC. This is tentative data and not in clinical practice. It makes sense given the anti-inflammatory impact of RUX.

Yes! Have had U.C. for years.... Last few years pretty bad. Been on Rux almost a year and colonoscopy came back with no U.C!!!! Still have inflammation there and diarrhea. Hem said it could be the Rux that made U.C. in remission. Kind of a mystery
Also ..... Gastro doctor had me on every med available to help colitis and none of it worked. Could it have been pv the whole time? ? ?
I was diagnosed with UC in 2000 which has been quite a battle including a hospitalization and many flare-ups. I was diagnosed with PV in 2019 and put on hydroxyurea, aspirin and phlebotomies. The PV treatment made the UC much worse. I finally got put on Rux one year ago and the effect on the UC has been incredible. I reduced my UC medication by 50% and have a colonoscopy coming up in two months, hopefully to get off of the rest of it.
My regular hematologist could care less that the Rux is helping my UC. The PV specialist that I see at a local university is extremely interested because he suffers from an IBD also.
This is also quite interesting.
