I stopped taking cyclizine last week after my nurse said to try it . I am feeling really nauseous today and had to take a tablet before. I am wondering if this has happened to anyone else before please ?

Hi MissLesley13

When I was put on Hu for a blood clot to the liver due to ET jak2+ I felt very nauseous so my gastrointestinal consultant he put me on domperidone 10mg and I have never looked back tried many anti emetic you could try and ask about getting put on them

GI adverse effects are common with HU. For me this was constipation, for which I had to take laxatives every day. It did not get better until I stopped the HU. Some do find additional medication the can take to counteract the HU adverse effects. If you find that it is not working, then you may need to discuss other options with your MPN care team.

I take Gaviscon several times a day for nausea, it works for me, I’ve tried cheaper versions and they don’t work. If constipation is also an issue Movicol sachets were recommended by my niece who is a specialist bowel cancer nurse p, they’re good. Don’t taste too bad and work gently.

If you've been on hydr for a few weeks and it still gives you nausea I'd press for another medication

It is bringing my platelets down lovely so I am hoping to try and stay on for a little while longer. Thanks though x

Is there any reason you cannot take another drug instead of HU. I had very bad side effects on it & certainly would not have continued on sickness tablets if your body is not happy. I moved to Interferon & no sickness or side effects. However we have a shortage of Peg Interferon currently but take advice from an MPN as you should not put up with feeling sick. Quality of life matters & there are other options of drugs .👍

I was told they are no.longer offering pegasus as of the shortage .I have left a message with my nurse this morning. I am just waiting to hear back. I was at a mpn conference a in November and someone there also said the same to me. They said that they had terrible sickness on hydrea and had to change to pegasus.
