Any safe recommendations for travel sickness tablets to take prior to travelling anywhere. I have Polycythaemia Vera and take Hydroxycarbamide always suffer from tummy problems before travelling on any form of transport . Sometimes a need to go to loo mainly to poo and at times force myself to go.

Pit of stomach feels constantly upset as if needing loo or upset any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Derek, I'm no expert but it sounds like you suffer from anxiety before travelling. I have ET and am on Hydroxycarbamide and have suffered with anxiety for many years, that subconsciously escalates before events, like travel, attending social gatherings, etc. I take 2mg loperamide daily, to slow things down with my gut, and this definitely helps my situation. It may be worth trying for a few days before and while you travel, but as always, check with your Dr first. Best of luck,

David

I use scopolamine patches for motion sickness. Works better than the tablets and bypass the stomach. Your doc can prescribe these.

Hi Edinburgh1953, you could ask at your local pharmacy for advice on what you can take to help this, alongside your Hydroxycarbamide. Best wishes, Maz

Ginger is great for calming wobbly tummies caused by travel. Don’t know if it interacts with HU but ginger is a great antioxidant so hopefully OK. I munch away on crystallized ginger but also have a ginger tablet by Travacalm that I bought in Australia. Something similar could be available in your neck of the woods?

Here’s what’s in them - the pharmacist who sold them to me told me I’d have to eat a lot of ginger pieces to get the same effect.
