Suggest consulting with a MPN Specialist about this issue for the best advice. My understanding is that there could be issues with anemia or due to a compromised immune system if those are relevant to your husband's case. It is also possible that he may see a spike in platelet levels due to reactive thombocytosis.
Please do let us know what you learn and how he gets on.
A common enough illness usually requiring no treatment. Unless your husband is Immunodeficient it shouldn’t be of any concern. If he is from medication only a Dr will be able to say for sure. But even then it would just likely need some supportive care I would think.
