The new shingles vaccine isn’t a live one. So I would think you would be fine. Just verify that it isn’t live before receiving. I know in the US they no longer use the live version but not sure about the UK. And anybody who was considering a Jak inhibitor should definitely get vaccinated. Hope this helps!

In Scotland only Shingrix, the non live version, is now being offered. I actually had my second dose this morning. I am on ruxolitinib and was told to make sure I had it. I had a letter booking me in for it because I'd been identified as being at risk.I think in England both the live and non live ones are being used - you can check the NHS site - so you would have to ensure you got the non live one.

Ask for the shingrix jab it's a non live one On As it while on HU.You get 2 jabs right weeks apart

I got the original live shot years ago. But they found it was not that effective so the new Shingrix is indicated.

I got the Shingrix series while on HU. I chose ~4-5 months part. It can be more discomfort than other shots, both going in and afterward. Otherwise it was routine for me. Very worth it, esp since having an option to receive Rux at some future time is useful. Rux has increased risk of shingles.

My later vaccine experience on IFN was very different.

I recently asked my Haematologist about the shingles jab. She told me it was ok to have non live vaccine.

hello. I have had my first dose of Shingrix as it’s a non live vaccine. I am on hydroxy as well. No side effects only a sore arm. My second dose is in May. I was advised by my haematologist that it was ok to have.

Take care

Asked the less than useless GPs for the shingles vaccine for my wife who they agreed is immunocompromised and is 66 years old. But they won't give her a vaccine even though she had a bad bout of shingles 27 months ago. They say not until 70 years old.

We live in Wales, the surgery covers both England and Wales!

The Public Health Wales website says that over 50s who are very immunocompromised should get the shingles vaccine.

We know but the GPs are all in denial. All part time and now that they will be getting a 20% pay rise even less interested in patient care but a lot more interested in booking more holidays.
