ET and norovirus

Happy Saturday to all. I am feeling totally yuk at the moment having caught a sick bug on top of ET. On meds and aspirin but as I am unable to keep down anything will stop for 24 hours. Anyone any tips other than rest and water? TIA

Sorry to hear that you have a sick tummy. I use an OTC anti-nausea medication like Nauzene or Emetrol when I am nauseous. It helps sometimes, If this is norovirus, then you just need to let it run its course. You are correct that staying hydrated is very important. It may help to include some rehydration beverages in what you are drinking. Which one is really a matter of preference. I find many of them are not to my taste, but have found some of the rehydration drinks for children are preferable.

Hope you are feeling better soon,

Go for bananas! 🍌🍌 They often work for me when my stomach is bothering me. 🤢

Hi SazzaC ! Sorry to hear this. I find that plain boiled white rice helps a lot.

Sorry to hear you're feeling poorly. Great question, I've also wondered what to do. Last week, I had diarrhoea and stopped my aspirin for a day or two. My haematologist had said it would be OK, to stop for 2 days prior to having an extraction, something my dentist had requested, so I felt it's OK to do this. I also started with a banana. I'd always avoided fruit but saw it in the cancer care booklet, I'd been given. My GP also said to have sips of carbonated drinks, for the sugar. Not sure if that would help you, with sicknessbutt seems OK for diarrhoea.

Really hope it's a short sickness for you, and you're soon feeling brighter.

Take care xx

I also had this a few weeks ago (started with vomiting on last night of holiday in Tenerife). When I got home I spent the next three days in bed, ate nothing the first two days just drunk lots plain water then, like yourself a banana was the first thing I ate! It made me feel so weak and unwell that staying in bed was the sensible option

Years ago - before PV - I’m sure I would have just got on with things.

I hope you feel much better soon

I had this as well about a month ago for 3-4 days. Fever, extreme nausea tho I was lucky I wasn’t bringing anything up. Couldn’t eat. My daughter bought me some electrolyte effervescent pills I dissolved in water and I lived on those for the following week. My husband had an anti nausea script which he filled and those pills were a huge help to me and I slept and slept, day and night. Then the other end started. So I was home resting up for some days. I hope you begin feeling better real soon 🌸
