I inherited thalassemia anemia and have ET JAK2+ for nearly two years so odd red blood cells and higher than normal platelets among other things are my norm. A week ago hematologist recommended iron infusion of a different blend than I had once before quite a while back. That infusion was difficult after for having cardio side effects and headaches with minor offsetting positive effect. She noted this recent blend was different and an improvement that would make it easier for me to tolerate and she recommended it because my iron level has a slight downward trend, already being below normal. It was a 20 min. infusion with no immediate side effects. However, that night I could tell bone and joint pain (hips and lower back) were lessened and had gone away the next day. I was able to move much more comfortably sitting to standing, bending, twisting, up/down stairs. Was a welcomed change that continues today. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this reaction to iron infusion. If not, could it be coincidental having started taking daily milk thistle extract and turmeric last November? If so, is it a lasting change? Thank you for sharing insight.
