JAK2 Level

I don't know what my JAK2 level is. i was diagnosed thru gene testing..not BMB. Is the level in my normal bloodwork or is it an additional test? I want to request the next time i go for labs.

JAK2 mutation tests can either be qualitative (yes/no) or quantiatione (% of cells mutated). In addition, there are a variety of differing types of JAK2 mutation tests, Sanger Sequencing, PCR, and NGS to name a few. mpn-hub.com/medical-informa.... The different types of tests have different levels of sensitivity. These tests are no big deal to obtain and can be done with blood.

Just ask your consultant or nurse for the test with your next lot of bloods. My phlebotomist was very excited as they had never used that colour tube before.!

The allele burden test is separate. In the uk I had to request it several times before I actually got it. Results take a couple of weeks

Is the test expensive as wondering whether GPs will still request it. 😊

I think it must be but being persistent paid off.
