Bone marrow biopsy

I had my first BMB yesterday and wanted to reassure people who probably like myself are dreading it!! I can assure you it was nothing!! I felt no pain just some sensations that weren't pain just weird!!

I feel very bruised today but that's nothing and to be expected considering what I had done!

Hope this offers some comfort to all of you who are going through this difficult time.

You were lucky! It was about 15mins of severe pain for me. Once it was over I felt fine. Everyone is different.

Mine was agony, could barely walk afterwards. By the time I was taken home I couldn't even get undressed so spent the night in the clothes I went to hospital in. Had pain for a month.

thanks for sharing. I have mine on 24th Oct and have to say I’m quite anxious about it. I suffer from chronic nerve pain and really hope it doesn’t aggravate this. 😔

My first Bmb is this coming week. I’m a bit nervous. They do not use gas at Stanford cancer center, where my MPN specialist is.

Just anti anxiety pill and will give pain med 30 mins prior.

I’m hopeful this doesn’t hurt like you said.

I’m not sure why some clinics are ok with gas and some are not.

HiMy doctor was very reluctant to give me gas! To be fair I didn't need it, just had an anti anxiety tablet 1.5ml and pain meds before which were CoCodamol.

Everyone is different but I really hope yours is as straightforward as mine!

Good luck.

Thank you for this response. It’s reassuring to hear others experience.

I’m hopeful it will be tolerable and quick.
