I have not experienced that from Pegasys before. My side effects (mostly fatigue) usually take about a day or two to show up after injection. I can't recall any immediate side effects - although I take the shot before bed so maybe I just sleep through those symptoms.

I have not experienced a temperature change with Pegasys or Besremi; however, rigors is listed as a potential adverse effect. online.epocrates.com/drugs/...

Rigors "a sudden feeling of cold with shivering accompanied by a rise in temperature, often with copious sweating, especially at the onset or height of a fever."

"Most people have flu-like symptoms such as headache, tiredness, fever, chills, and muscle aches, but these usually decrease after the first few weeks of treatment. You can lessen these side effects by injecting this medicine at bedtime and using fever reducers/pain relievers such as acetaminophen before each dose." webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-6427....

It seems reasonable to think this could be a Pegasys adverse effect. Be sure to let your care team know what you experienced for the best advice on how to handle it.

With my first dose I suffered from bad shivering but it occurred over a day after the injection (it is a slow-release formulation). Not sure what such an immediate reaction could be.

Hi

Exactly same thing happened to me - cold and shivery within an hour. This will lessen with each dose but would recommend taking paracetamol just after to combat this.

Please tell us what dose you are taking. I was told to start very low at 45mcgs and increase slowly from there.

hi also taking 45mcgs and if needed doctor will adjust but I think I will probably stay on that dose platelets are dropping on there own was suppressing May 10 .508 then May 31 474. Have not been that low in over a year they stay at six hundred so something is happening

That is good to hear. I really hope I can keep the dose low, especially with the high cost of Peg. I paid $379 for 2 180 mcg viles. If I was up to 180 per week I wouldn't be able to afford it.

Is Peg not covered by health insurance then? I was started on a dose of 45mcg nearly 2 years ago and I have always stayed on the same dose, it hasn’t needed to be increased. All my blood levels are normal. Hopefully you can stay on the lowest dose and not need to increase it too. Wishing you luck.
