That could be a number of things. The spike in blood pressure is concerning on the context of what you describe. It is not surprising that you experienced flushing and dizziness as this is consistent with elevated BP. This is more complex in the context of PV. This should be treated as an emergent symptom that requires prompt attention. In addition to follow up with your GP, consultation with a MPN Specialist is also indicated ASAP. If you get a repeat of this symptom, suggest seeking attention in an urgent care facility. It may help if they can assess you while symptomatic.
hi blonde25 I'm not sure if I'm the same but I've been on peg appox 1414months I started with feeling hot and sweating plus very red faced and then really sore dry skin and to my atonastonishment I have been told my thyroid is failing may e you could ask to test your TSH 3 TSH4 to see if that could be the problem I'm so fed up at the minute as they don't know what to do good luck hun and I feel for you drop a post when you find out
I should have added that with PV a red face can happen mostly when Hct is high but not always, I used to notice it varied when I was on venisection only, usually a day here and there. Is it possible you felt a bit unwell and maybe panicked a bit hence high BP and felt faint, the pressure in the eye maybe doesn’t fit with it being a panic attack. PV or MPN can throw up some weird transcient symptoms sometimes. However definitely get everything checked just in case.
Good comments here. I would underline that your blood pressure is too high. Not clear what else is going on but you should follow up with a specialist asap. I have my own monitor and check bp daily. Also, you don't indicate what other meds you might be taking, but many cold meds will dramatically raise bp. Best wishes for a quick resolution.
Hi everyone Thanks for your reply.I couldn't see the GP so I am waiting for a phone call on Friday 14/04/2023My blood pressure has been erratic recently but appears ok for now .I have a heart problem and I'm waiting for the results of my recent heart MRI profusion I'm on Peg interveron 45 Micro grams every two weeks And 75 mg clopidigrel I take 20 mg AtorvastatinI have 2000 mg of vitamin D3 this has been ok by the hospital I take 180 mg fexofendine for allergy I've had 2 x venesection in December 2022 and January 2023The consultant said on my last phone consultation on the 10 April 2023 that my bloods were the same has last time and to continue on myPlan for another 6 weeks and they will review me again on the 5 of may 2023 .She said she didn't want to send me for a venesection at this stage but may increase my dose of peg interveron if my bloods doesn't improve.I have noticed that I don't have many side effects when I first inject but they appear about 5 days after . Hence the red face flushing etc , this happened 5 days after the injection?I'm unsure if my symptoms are the peg injection or the PV or a mixture of all my health issues currently.I have inflammation in my joints but I think that can be from the interveron .My bloods on the 10 April 2023 Haemoglobin 158White cell count 10Haematocrit 0.48 Platelets 336Neutrophils 5.05 I'm concerned about them leaving my haematocrit at 0.48 but they said they didn't want to venesection so INeed to ask why ? And if my iron levels are low I Will discuss this with the GP on Friday I will update on what they say Thanks for everyone support it means so much
in addition to what I wrote yesterday, your Hgb and Hct are far too high especially Hct, your Haem needs to come up with a solid explanation for leaving it so high. The guidelines are clear for PV, Hct below 45 ALWAYS for male and many docs say 42/43 for women. Thrombotic risk rises exponentially as Hct rises above those figures, I never want to worry anyone but safe is better than sorry. I don’t know much about heart conditions but I would imagine with a heart issue and high blood pressure it’s not a good idea to have thick sticky blood as a result of high Hct. I would get venisected asap. I hope it goes well.
I was like that on Interferon but because dose was too high for me. Dose reduced & redness & feeling spaced out gone at lower dose 👍 But I have only ET ..
