Have any of you read any books that you would recommend in relation to living with a chronic illness especially chronic lifelong cancers? Most of the MPNs fall between the typical trajectory of most cancers (diagnosis, surgery, recovery). Living with an MPN is a bit of slow grind, especially mentally sometimes and I was wondering if any of you had come across some encouraging reads.
Many thanks and Happy Christmas to you all.

Hi. We Don’t Get To Ring The Bell: My CML Story is a book by a patient with a chronic cancer similar to ours. It, and other books, are listed on the website of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I’ve not read it, I just did a quick Google search. They also list books dealing with the emotional effects of living with cancer. Hope this helps. I also think books about life threatening/limiting serious illnesses might be helpful. Parkinson’s, MS and ALS aren’t cancers but are deadly. Katie
I found Make Your Bed and The Hero Code by Adm. William McRaven to be very helpful in maintaining a positive attitude for life in general. Some elements are particularly germane for anyone dealing with a chronic illness.
