Well never heard that before, I have ET JAK 2 positive, never had a problem with my dentist, and they know I have ET and take Hydroxycarbamide and numerous other tablets, had a tooth with a gold crown removed earlier this year, had a bit of bleeding but soon stopped and no problems since, also have seen hygienist for a good clean and polish, they were aware that I could bleed but took all the necessary precautions, making sure that even the injection to numb the area did not interact with any of my tablets before hand.
Might it be a good idea to seek a new dentist, especially if they are charging £25 just for you to walk through the door, in these days of trying to watch every penny, £25 can be a lot of money to pay out for nothing for some.

I would recommend writing to the dentist to gently suggest the question about health changes should be made BEFORE they confirm appointment.
Not easy to get a new dentist these days
How annoying! I am on peg and aspirin. Didn’t make any difference to my dentist.
I’ve never had a problem with the dentist, just update any medication changes when I go in, which the (nhs) dentist checks before any treatment, I’ve had deep clean with hygienist which caused bleeding but it soon stopped. Might be a new rule for your particular dentist.
I am on Pegasys and small dose of aspirin and disclosed this to my dentist but it didn’t make any difference to the treatment.
I go to dentist every six months am ETJAK2
I take hydroxy and aspirin I have never had a problem
get your letter straightaway and go back and say, ofcourse you have already been paid the check up money, this letter is the go ahead for the treatment
definitely a fob off . I am with same NHS dentist & on Hydroxy & later Peg Interferon no problems they update their health records each time I go. Had injections for treatment deep cleaning no problems. I usually do not take my aspirin on day of treatment . No problems. Change your dentist or ring them & complain. I had a similar problem with NHS doctor re shoulder injury who cancelled my appointment on reading I had ET as though it was a major problem 🥸👍
hi
Just been to Dentist today.
Dentists want one to have treatment in hospital if pull outs and fillings are close to the nerve.
I filled out fully my meds and various diagnosis.
When I reminded the senior Dentist about my meds and diagnosis she said that I would be alright.
Ihad 2 fillings with 1 close to nerve.

My dentist wanted letters from my PCP *and* my hematologist for my dental implant surgery, but not for regular dental visits before that happened.
He’s been a wonderful support/partner in healthcare this last year since I was diagnosed with PV. I’ve had a lot of concerns about taking Hydroxy and any tooth loss/decay, and he’s helped me map out best practices at home to avoid and deal with any problems.
I appreciate that he’s cautious about anything that might put my health at risk, and both doctors returned the letters for surgery right away. (Knock wood, implant is healing fine )

I lost a back tooth and at the consultation of a dental impact, I was told I was not a candidate due to my age and health. Good luck!!
Everything is healing nicely, except maybe my wallet I was joking with my dentist that if I’d done all this dental care 20 years ago, I’d probably still have my teeth (floss, waterpick, fluoride mouthwash-every night), and he very kindly said, “It’s never too late.” I’m fortunate to have found a dentist who is on top of things, and who finds answers for my 4,000 non-stop questions.
Holy smoke, that's terrible. I have never had that problem before or even heard of this.
I've never had an issue going to the dentist, as long as I inform them of any prescription changes when I do so. I've had a hygienist deep clean my teeth (bristoldental.ca/services/o..., which initially caused bleeding but quickly stopped. I use aspirin and hydroxy, and I've never experienced an issue. Possibly a new policy for the dentist you go to.Thank You!
I don't have any issues with my dentist. When we require dental care, I always choose to speak with our family dentist(appletondental.ca/services/..., who is extremely close to my family. I'm taking hydroxyzine and aspirin, and the rest of my family visits him every 6 months as part of their regular oral care. My family dentist once totally cured a nasty infection I had. It is preferable to select a new dentist who can allay your dental concerns and anxieties if you are not pleased with your existing dentist.
