Hi everyone, I am 74 ET jak2+ 12 years. I recently walked 608 km in 30 days on the Camino to Santiago Pilgrimage walk in Spain with my family. I walked using a walking stick as parts of the walk are rough and rocky. It was a wonderful experience and we all thoroughly enjoyed every mile although tough going at times. On my return home I went on my usual 5 mile walk around my village with my son without my walking stick and after walking 2 miles I tripped on a root and fell on my right arm. Although it was painful I didn't think it was broken so I carried on and finished walking. When I got home I realised it was not OK so went to urgent care for xray who confirmed I had a fracture. I am very glad I did not fall down in Spain as that would have been very problematic. I am walking with my stick on every walk from now on. The moral of the story is I suppose, you live and learn at any age. Keep well everyone, and keep walking.

Hi There, congratulations on what is a fantastic achievement, sorry to hear about your fall. I wish you a speedy recovery. You are an inspiration 🫶🏻
Congratulations on your 30 day walk. I couldn't do a distance like that but I am a huge advocate of walking to stay well. I will shortly be having a stem cell transplant and my consultant and my CNS are are very pleased that I walk every day and say that fitness makes a difference in recovering well from this gruelling process.
Good on you! I love a good hike too.
Bit of an irony to make the hike with no issues then fall on a routine walk around town. Hope the arm heals up fast. I do like the idea of a walking stick on mot any longer walk. I have several that I use as needed.
All the best.
Sorry to hear of the broken arm. Great to hear about your walking, one of the best exercises available especially for those of us over 70. I bike everyday because of back issues. When I do walk I use a cane or stick, helps the back.Wishing you many many more years of walking. Best.
