Hi Frank well done on making a new start, moving to a new country and starting a new business. Most of us would want to stay put and play it safe.
Being able to fly back for regular appointments is very handy. It will be interesting to hear how you get on with the Spanish medical system when you get to that point.
I had to connect with the Portuguese medical system for interferon when I forgot to bring it with me. They were fantastic.
We visit Xavia regularly. I think that being in a more temperate, warmer climate can only be good for a body dealing with an MPN.
I asked at the local pharmacy. They suggested the pharmacy department at a nearby private hospital in Setubal.
And here was when a miracle happened. The pharmacy was not open routinely to the public. But I entered. And a pharmacist who heard me tell my story realised how complicated it was and how they couldn't help directly. She took me upstairs to have a quick consultation with a private doctor. I had all my paperwork with me, copy of prescription, letter authorising carry of it and dose. He took brief case history and wrote out a prescription. I returned the next day and picked it up. I paid about €200 for the interferon and another charge for the doctor. It was an expensive mistake but it solved the problem for me. So from this I imagine you would need to see a private doctor. But in my case it was the very helpful pharmacist who enabled everything to happen.
