Received lateral flow tests that I didn't order

I've just received a pack of NHS lateral flow tests that I didn't order. The only thing I can think of is that because we have a health condition that means we're eligible for COVID-19 treatments, we're being sent them free. Anyone else received them as well? I'm baffled!

I think you are right. Antivirals need to be started quickly to be effective, so you need to test promptly if you have symptoms.

A recent personalised email from the NHS arrived last week saying that I had been identified as having one or more conditions which might cause me to become seriously ill if I caught Covid 19 so I was being sent a free box of lateral flow tests (arrived today). If I developed covid-like symptoms then I should check using these tests and report the result on the indicated link. (Other lateral flow tests will not be recognised by the link). A positive result would mean that I will then be sent anti-viral medication. I am surprised how much more confident I feel now about going out and about.

Yes I have been sent a box too, but no email to explain. Even with the promised antivirals I cannot afford to get Covid as it would seriously delay or even prevent my SCT.

Yes but I got mine months ago

I got the email last week and received the box yesterday, i actually feel that my condition is recognised now and it does make you feel more confident going about your daily life.

I have not received an email or lft’s. I’d feel much better if I had. Pointless trying to have another call to my surgery as ‘it’s nothing to do with them’ or anyone else it seems. Glad at least there’s some recognition. Best wishes.

Morning yes I received a email last week saying becouse of having ET . I have to have a box on stand by just in case .Then i received some the day after. Because we need them to be able to get the meds if needed.

Yes, I received my email last week and the box of tests arrived yesterday. The system does seem to be working. Sally

Thank you everyone. I've just gone back through my emails and realise I did get the email but only scanned the first few paragraphs because I thought it was just another routine one about 'my condition' and antivirals. Completely missed the bit about sending out a box of LFTs! Surprisingly proactive of the NHS and I'm grateful we have been sent them.

HiYes I got them also. I thought it was my area CCG catching up and realising at long last that I am “on the list”. I live in Lancashire

No I've not had either an email or lfts sent. Obviously still not on the list despite having had covid last month & getting antivirals organised through my gp. I live in West Cumbria.
