Yes. I was also tested for CML in the beginning. That's your doctor being very thorough. Completely normal.
Am so worried I wondered if they suspect it and that's why they are testing. They are testing for essential thrombocytosis too which I never thought they would do so soon and iron tests but not repeating cbc or platelets strangely
If you don't have a high white blood cell count then it's very unlikely that you would have cml. I specifically remember my doctor writing in my report that he was not very concerned that I had CML but he was going to do the test just to rule it out. (I had a high WBC.) Your doctor has to rule out other blood cancers before specifically diagnosing you with ET. I think it's a good thing that your doctor is testing you for ET right off the bat instead of waiting for iron studies to come back. If you were iron deficient there would be clues in your CBC that your doctor knows to look for...such as the size of your red blood cells. Red blood cells get smaller with iron deficiency.
I see as far as am aware cbc was ok. But someone told me my iron stores could be low when hb ok
It is true that you can be iron deficient without anemia. But, on your CBC results if you look where it says MCV... if that number is normal than iron deficiency may not be likely. If the MCV is low it means your red blood cells are small and can signify iron deficiency.
Ok am not sure what it was looks like am heading for et
I feel that, if it turns out to be ET, you're probably fortunate …. so many of us manage very well with it. Anyway, try not to worry too much ……. and try to keep positive for the New Year. It's a new beginning for you, not an end. Sallie
If they are testing for ET that’s ok. That happened to me. They will be testing to see if you have a mutated gene.
Yes but I was hoping it would be reactive they are also testing for cml
