Others on the forum have reported this with hydroxyurea. The more commonly reported HU adverse effect is hallucinations. No clear conclusion herehealthunlocked.com/mpnvoice...

I would certainly report this to your care team.

As I recall I may well have had a period of vivid dreams when I first took Hydroxy. But the memory of that is completely overshadowed by terrifying hallucinations I had years ago when I started on propranolol. I can testify that these are the most disturbing episodes (I never really understood just how real and disturbing until it happened to me!) and they remain etched in my memory! Am sure the weird dreams will subside.

Absolutely do get vivid dreams, in great detail too. Always trying to get somewhere or use my phone for help but never achieve either !

That’s me too exactly.Ii am usually driving our H G V horse lorry loaded with my long ago horses & I need help as I am lost, wake up in a dreadful panic. The same dream over & over.I have not driven a lorry for over 20 yrs & when I did compete it was always successful & I loved it.Started with Hydrea ,still have them now on Jakafi.....it’s exhausting really.

It’s so weird , I never succeed in what I am trying to do, reflecting life really !! xx

No I don’t believe that,I am sure you are at least good at something we all are.Me personally I don’t swank about it but we bred winning racehorses, show horses & ponies ,travelled the U K with them.My art work too is very successful & I have sold worldwide to many famous people.I think my awful dreams are the loss of my horse life & tho I do work a bit I cannot do what I would like to do & get very stressed .My G P keeps telling me I expect too much of myself & to accept I am now 12 yrs PV & getting older, he is of course right I know .But do not tell yourself you don’t succeed at anything......for a start you manage your M P N ,that’s something in itself. Good to see a post from you ,one of the old MP N site folk .xxxxSally

I love the word ‘swank’ Sally!! Haven’t heard it for years ….since I moved south. Much love, Polly

Polly if you are a Northerner ,that’s how you stay no matter where in the world you are. The word swank just popped out of my North Yorkshire brain where it had been hidden for years.I am SW France now for many years, where are you ,U K South.?♥️Sally.Was in Devon for 20+ years.,then Hampshire.

I’m originally a West Riding girl but now am firmly ensconced in deepest Dorset! Still proud of my flat vowels though Sally! Much love, Poll x

You stick with those vowels Polly, they define us as the tough Northeners we are . This will amuse you,we have Geordie friends here from Newcastle. They have lived in France for a long time ,they have a French son in law & French grandchildren.Their language skills are excellent, they read ,write & parlez ,but ...the Geordie accent penetrates thru the French & makes it difficult for them to be understood......same for us being Yorkshire.😍

Hi Sally , yes I’m an ‘oldie’ on here, but haven’t been posting for a while I have had a long bout of depression ( not unusual ) but seem to have come out it the other side thankfully.

I am aware of your beautiful artwork ,how gifted you are. Also your work with horses , kind gentle animals ,plus the dogs.. your life had been full of your passions which is wonderful.

My Sister is always telling me you must have a passion, ( she has many) but I do not have that. I don’t know why …maybe I just haven’t discovered it yet 🔭. ?

You have accomplished so many things, and you still want to but I’m sure it’s so hard to not do what you love to do. So do what you love but at a slower pace 😀. Take care of yourself.

Bet regards to you. Sandy xxx

Hi Sandy,It’s so good to see you posting again. I private messaged you a long while ago and got no reply and have been wondering how you are. I’m so sorry to hear you’ve not been well.

I’m about to go to bed, I’ll message you over the weekend.

Much love. 💐

Sandy ,I am going through terrible depression right now .Can you tell me how you got thru yours please.😍Sally

Stevesmum42 in reply to Inca

Oh I’m really sorry to hear that Judy. It’s so bleak. Can I ask the obvious, have you spoken to your GP re how you are feeling ? I have been, and still am on antidepressants for many years, I know some people are dismissive of taking ‘pills’ . If you have a broken leg you use a crutch so get some help even for a short amount of time that helps you gain a sense of perspective. You have to have a quality of life , with depression comes lethargy and disinterest in everything, get any help you can.I have tried counselling ….quite difficult during Covid just Zoom calls. Did not suit me suits some I know …but you have to find the right person .

Keeping close to good friends helped me a lot, and of course family showing they care is important People who you trust, talk to them but also talk about other things .

It’s so difficult to put a finger on how I felt better but it was very gradual until one day I suddenly said I feel ‘lighter’ .

I have forgotten how to private message , so if you message back I can respond in that manner to you.

Please keep in touch. But do meanwhile seek help.

Happy to talk anytime.

Look after yourself

With love Sandyxx

I had a strange collapse on Wednesday night,it was hot & I was stressed, went to get a shower ,,head spun & I fortunately collapsed on my bed.Came round tried to shout for my husband,to make a short story I ended up in hospital.Hubby called the Pompiers who are our local para medics / firemen ,they whisked me to Urgence.A night in there tests for everything found nothing unusual.Home now ,just had another nearly pass out at 5 am,so see my GP this morn.No doubt I will be back in hospital today.,but to my usual one where my consultant is who has looked after me for nearly 12 yrs now. The Urgence I went to was local & not used to my P V.They were so good & kind but didn’t think I needed transferring to the blood hospital. Will find out more this morning.I too have forgotten how to P M .will check it out when I feel better. You take care Sandy😍Sally

Goodness you are having a rough time , I’m so sorry to hear that. This condition throws some odd things at us at times. I’m glad you able to get to see your regular consultant ,as he knows you so well, he will get you sorted out. Maybe the heat is in some part to blame, it certainly does not suit me, And our temperatures are somewhat lower than yours.Let us know how you are getting along

Hug from me. Sandy xx

Hi Sandy,Quick reply ,I am going to take an anti depressant for 10 days to see me thru this bad patch, also having a brain scan tho really that is to satisfy me that all is well.Dr is happy with bloods & heart. Is sure that the intense killing heat we have at the moment is causing the odd blackouts just coinciding with the depression .Slept all afternoon,my husband is just taking the dogs out for 5 mins ,we are still 31 degrees & they are suffering the same as we are.Hopefully Monday is meant to be cooler.Be interesting to swap story of depression with you.I will look up P M.Take care Sandy, thanks for your input ,really appreciate it.I would send you a hug too but it’s too hot to move😡xxxSally

Stevesmum42 in reply to Inca

Hi Sally, so pleased you checked out ok.As I say the heat plays havoc with me. My hair looks as though I have just got out of the shower sometimes when I’m out, I sweat profusely from my head. So at 31 degrees I can compleltly understand you would feel so poorly.

Glad you have that sorted now I’m sure you know antidepressants usually take up to three weeks to kick in, so persevere and they should make you feel more human.

Take care, stay cool!!

With love Sandy xx

I do! Been on Hydroxyurea for 16 months and it keeps getting worse. I dread going to bed because of the crazy dreams. My husband recently had to wake me up as I was yelling because someone was trying to kill me in my dream. Ugh!
