I've been pleased until now not to have had side effects from hydroxicarbamide.
A week ago my finger knuckle went red with one pin prick. Today more purple . And 3 pin pricks. Slight stinging sensation at times . Its a bit swollen . Dr. Not responded yet so your thoughts appreciated. I'm assuming it's side effect?;

That could be an adverse effect for HU or aspirin - or a possible minor infection from the pin-prick. I would be suspicious that this could be an infection, but best to be sure to consult with your MPN Specialist ASAP. Note that the GP may not be aware of potential HU adverse effects.
Here is a relevant reference from rxlist.com. Call your doctor at once if you have:
numbness, tingling, or burning pain in your hands or feet;
skin numbness or purple discoloration;
skin ulcers or open sores;
sudden chest pain, wheezing, dry cough, feeling short of breath;
low blood cell counts--fever, chills, tiredness, mouth sores, easy bruising, unusual bleeding, pale skin, cold hands and feet, feeling light-headed; or
signs of liver or pancreas problems--loss of appetite, upper stomach pain (that may spread to your back), nausea or vomiting, fast heart rate, dark urine, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).
Thanks for your words of wisdom. My Gp rang and I’ve just been to see student dr. And Dr. They said much same as you. Could be side effect of HU . I’ll chase up hospital.
I do appreciate your understanding. Doesn't feel like just a bruise. Feels like the start of all sorts of things appearing....Dr. Said he expects it to fade .
We have to accept things we have no control over with grace and good spirits don't we
Compared to others I feel lucky. Just one bruise ...
Hi Mostew,bruises look awful and can be so painful, l like what you said about acceptance and grace,bruises also serve to remind us that we have wounds inside and out and as such need to be kind towards our tenderness and vulnerability.Thanks for your post Adiewon
