Has anyone had the IV anti viral medication? I’ve been offered it tomorrow morning but I’m a bit unsure…

I did take the monoclonal antibody treatment when I had COVID, I had no problem with it. Glad I did it as it took a full 12 days to shake the symptoms.

Hi DoubleF79, what is the reason for taking this antiviral treatment, if don't mind me for asking?

It’s to lessen the severity of the virus. It stops it multiplying giving your immune system more of a chance to fight it off. It decreases hospitalisation significantly. Maz has added a link which has all the info 👍 I’m in A&E now after having it. Feel ok so far.

Thank you for your reply. I do know what is it for and how it works. I wanted to know if you have Covid19 or some other virus. Wishing you well.

Glad you got the antibodies. Those that I know who received it got better quickly, MPN's make us high risk for complications from covid, hope you get well soon. Please let us know how you get along. Best to you.

Thank you. It went well this morning. I don’t feel as tired today but still coughing & a bit breathless. This is day 4 of symptoms so I’ll see how things progress this week 🤞🏻

Have you been given/ got an oximeter? I was given one by my haematology dept when I got covid. I was told that if my oxygen levels went below 94 to go to a&e. It felt reassuring having that little machine. My department rang all their patients with covid everyday which again was reassuring. I do hope you feel better soon. Sarah x

Hi Sarah where do you go for your haematology care? They sound like a good team.

Hi Rachel, I’m in Brighton, East Sussex. I had very mild symptoms but it was very reassuring nevertheless. How naive of me to think that might have been standard practice…. Sarah x

Hi. I actually got my own last year so it’s handy to have in the house. 99% so all good x

Hope you are progressing and feeling less breathless. It was reassuring to hear the system worked for you in getting the treatment. I must have read something about oximeters a year or so ago because I bought one. Touch wood no covid but I had pneumonia last summer and it was very useful as a guide as to how quickly I was deteriorating. In fact one of the doctors on the phone just assumed I had one! Best wishes Diana

👍 I think it would have been useful for the media to have focussed on things like oximeters to empower us. I know I felt quite fearful when I saw those two lines. Testing with that little machine made me feel more in control. 99% that’s great! Hope you’re feeling better today and make a speedy recovery. Sarah x
