Boosters for the immunocompromised.

The BBC reports today that SAGE has recommended that the immunocompromised (along with care home residents) SHOULD receive their Booster COVOID Vaccinations FIVE instead of six months after the Third dose.

In view of the abject failure of many in the NHS system to respond to or even be aware of the call for the THIRD dose (promulgated by the JCVI and published by the NHS in England on 01/09/21 and NHS Scotland on 21/09/21) we should begin agitation now to ensure that this happens. It is also vital that the effectiveness of the Third vaccination is assessed as soon as possible so that we can consider how important it is to continue shielding.......

Very interesting! I will keep watching to see if anything comes of this. The 3rd dose roll out has been a complete shambles. I’ve had Pfizer which I’m hoping is the full primary dose, but no one has confirmed this. Thanks for posting, 2haporth!

I was told that it’s a full dose when I had mine

Hi 2haporthI had been going around in circles trying to find anyone who would take responsibility for the third primary dose vaccination; on Friday I finally got a letter stating I am immunocompromised and could take the letter to specified walk in centres and get the elusive 3rd primary dose, which I have done this morning. I agree we need to be vigilant in regards to the follow up booster.

Good luck and stay safe

Hello 2haporth - many thanks for that ‘heads up’ - will get my next email to our CCG composed ready to hit send in March (the whole fiasco of the 3rd jab had me ranting)! Keep safe Anne-Marie.

Hello, thank you for the information. I had my booster Pfizer. Sore arm for a day and a headache to be expected. ( I had AZ for my first two injections, no reaction) They are now only doing the Pfizer. I was told I had to have another one in six months time. Do I believe the BBC news or any news? I will keep a check with Guy’s Haematology I will get an honest answer.

Hi

Nothing yet on NHS site about this but this article sums up the current thinking....

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. Just shows we have to be "on it" all the time, as I hadn't seen this. It made me smile that someone else on here said they would start getting their email to their CCG ready now - yes 5 months may just give us enough time to educate our health providers ready in time for our boosters!

I had my 3rd jab 5 months after my 2nd. I just had a text from my GP’s asking me to make an appointment. There doesn’t seem to be any delays in Bristol
