Has anyone had a third covid vaccine? When I contacted my hemo they said they were recommending it. I’m on Pegasys and wasn’t sure if I was considered “immunocompromised”. I just haven’t seen any data around this. Anyone have any experience? I am 44, diagnosed JAK2 PV 6 years ago. Thank you!

Third Covid Vaccine
I don't think the program in the UK has started officially yet. September is the date given but not an actual date yet.
I did read, don't know how true, that those called first would be the most vulnerable and not necessary age driven this time. If that includes MPN patients time will tell.
I'm keen to have mine but as many haven't had their second yet I think we have to be patient.
Pegasys is an immune suppressing cancer medication. In the US you do meet criteria. I got my booster last week.
Got my 3rd shot two weeks ago - ET Jak2+ on HU and aspirin (switching to Pegasys) - was in middle of applying for shot on the fact that MPNs are considered "blood cancers" when the government opened it up to everyone over 30....
Got my third Pfizer dose last week. Doctor said I was eligible as being immunocompromised taking HU. No reaction or side effects, same as with first two doses.
I am in the uk and waiting to hear when the booster programme will be rolled out. I have PV and on hydroxy and I know my consultant has written to my GP to say I am definately eligible for a booster when they are rolled out.
I have PV and on pegasys. I was contacted by health care provider (US) and told I was eligible as immune suppressed. I had third (booster) last week. Arm hurt for a couple days.
Got my 3rd dose 12 days ago. Glad I did. No side effects except a little sore arm for one day. I feel better having had the 3rd dose, I don't know if it helped me or not, I guess only time will tell. Good luck to you on your decision.
I had my 3rd shot Thursday. The next day I experienced nausea, aches, and even had a fever of 100.9. My arm was sore and itchy. It was my worst reaction yet. I took Tylenol for the fever and last night I took an antihistamine for the itching. Today (Sunday) I feel a little better. I’m still glad I had it, since we know several people personally that caught Covid in the last few weeks that were vaccinated. Two of them ended up in the hospital.
Hi. As uncomfortable as the shot made you feel, consider feeling happy it did. It means your immune system is working. I have a separate immune deficiency disease & I get no reaction to the Covid vaccines because my body’s immune system doesn’t respond. It’s sounds like your does so you should get good protection. Sounds crazy to say this I know! Katie
Oh no that’s an awful blow for you. Have you had a vaccine at all?
Thank you for all the feedback, super helpful. I got pretty sick ( fever, chills, etc… ) after shot two, but it was just one day. Totally worth it all if it provides the needed protection. I think I will move forward with the third shot 😊
Getting in touch with friends and specialists I have been advised when I get a third covid vaccine NOT to get AZ, due to violent reaction, got my 2nd in April, at the moment a happy medium, reactions to the vaccine are wearing off, getting down to a "better state of health", now I can worry about OTHER health worries, living in Northern Ireland a booster shot not on the immediate horizon, but knowing that it was my Schwannomatosis that caused the main trouble, a rarity in itself🤞
I had mine last week. Thankfully no issues at all. Best of luck!
I was able to get my booster on Monday Aug 16. In the US all blood cancers count for a weakened immune system. My hematologist recommended it, then Emory sent me a message that Friday telling me I was eligible. I still don't trust crowds or indoors even with it since I live in Atlanta, GA and the South is just boiling over with Delta variant cases. Plus I don't need to spread anything to my 92 year old mom. She's so healthy right now.
ET CALR+ on HU. Diagnosed 10 years ago, no progression. I'm lucky to be very healthy and still playing my soccer (real football) every Sunday.
I’m in the U S and both GP and hemo said to get booster. I’ve got ET with Jak 2 but just haven’t made an appointment yet. Need to just lazy🤪
