Hi everyone. I am 6 weeks pregnant and was on plavix for my ET. But now dr. Wants me to put on aspirin, as plavix is not safe during pregnancy. Anyone who experienced pregnancy and taking aspirin?how much aspirin? Baby or adult aspirin?any side effects?
Pregnant and having ET: Hi everyone. I am 6 weeks... - MPN Voice
Pregnant and having ET
I take 75mg of aspirin daily anyway and did the whole through my pregnancy. You need to stop at about 36 weeks.
Make sure your MPN consultant is in the loop with your obstetric team. Your platelet count will likely decrease as your blood volume increases. But that’s not always the whole picture. You’ll likely need extra scans to make sure baby is growing ok and blood flow to your placenta isn’t restricted. I had to take fragmin and interferon once I’d had the extra Doppler scans
Good luck!
Hi. When I was pregnant I refused to take any medication as the info I was given was 'take interferon or you will kill your baby'. I had extra scans and check ups and even though I was threatened that my baby wasnt going to be 'normal' (ie that she wasnt growing, her arms and legs weren't growing, she was going to be born with dwarfism) she was born at 37.5 weeks and is a very happy , healthy 'normal' 11 yr old now! Do what you think is best for you and your baby!!

Sorry haven’t personal experience of this. Maybe look on drugs.com about Aspirin in pregnancy. Obviously it won’t account for your ET but it should highlight any known issues that you can then discuss with a pharmacist & your doctor.
Yes I took 75 mg of aspirin only during both of my pregnancies but I was closely monitored by my haematologist and high risk obgyn.
Thanks everyone for your precious input. I am living in Malaysia and here lowest dose aspirin found is 100mg. What you think is it safe to take 100mg aspirin during pregnancy?plz help
I'm not in any way qualified in medicine, but I understand that aspirin is often recommended during pregnancy to guard against pre-eclampsia.
Check with your doctor but I imagine you will be quite safe with 100mg aspirin - I think 150mg is the recommended daily dose (in pregnancy) in the UK.
