Hard to say, what did your test results show?

Hello tests showed I probably have essential thrombocytosis.

Have the platelets been dropping over time? I would say that that is indicating that aspirin is the reason. No idea why there would be a sudden drop though.

ok thanks yes they have been dropping over the last few months, the only thing I have changed is I don't drink socially as much as I used to ,so don't know if that's made a difference.

Well as Mazcd recommends, it is time for a chat with the MD.

Hi Glyndale, I can see from your previous posts that you were starting on Hydroxycarbamide about a year ago. Have you been taking these as well as the aspirin? Maz

Hello no I wasn't started on hydroxycarbamide, just aspirin.

This is something you need to discuss with your consultant for advice on this and the next steps for your treatment plan. Best wishes, Maz

Did you test positive for a driver mutation(JAK2, CALR, MPL)? Did you have a Bone Marrow Biopsy with positive results?? In the absence of those findings, I would be wondering about secondary thrombocytosis as opposed to ET. The only way to know will be, as Mazcd suggests, to talk to the doc.

Do let us know how things turn out.

They should have checked for the three driver mutations when they did the BMB. Hope you find out something soon.

ok thank you.

Well I think that’s great news! Whatever caused your platelets to go up might have been resolved. A lot of things can cause platelets to rise. I’m diagnosed as Idiopathic Thrombocythemia..... in layman terms: they don’t know the cause
