I was up at Guy’s Hospital yesterday and asked about antibody tests. The answer was basically don’t bother. The researchers are looking for a reliable antibody test and a better understanding of what we need (in terms of antibodies / T cells etc) in order to determine whether or not we are protected.
The advice? Carry on being careful. Take the booster when offered. I think everyone is bracing themselves for the next wave (here in the U.K. )
The next wave is here in Arkansas. Too many people refused vaccines and now all the ICUs are full. The Delta variant seems to be making younger people extremely ill.
My husband is a physician. Our biggest fear during the pandemic has been that he would bring the virus home from the clinic to us. We were both feeling rather stressed about the developing situation in Arkansas. Knowing I did make antibodies to the spike protein has given us peace of mind.
Possibly good news if the only medication is aspirin but for patients like myself on hydroxurea or other fairly aggressive treatments the protection given by vaccination is still very much in doubt. However many thanks for posting the details of your results .
I had a haematology appointment last week and asked about antibody level and vulnerability. The consultant stated that there were no increase in cases in the MPN population in her clinic to the general population
Here in Arkansas where we are experiencing a huge spike in cases, the vast majority (95-99%) in unvaccinated people. Sadly, this situation has not caused an uptick in vaccination rates. Do you know, roughly, what the vaccination rates are like in the UK?
Hi at my hospital in Hammersmith London they have been testing my antibodies for the AZ vaccine. Slightly worrying is that yesterday the value has gone down from the one in May. So definitely be up for a booster when available.
