I had Pfizer vaccine March 6 & 27. Blood test on March 24 showed that platelets, WBC, neutrophils had all dropped. Blood test on June 23 showed that numbers have dropped even lower and Dr. took me to 8 pills a week instead of 10. I feel so much better on the lower dose.
I don't know what this means in the long run but for right now I'm happy.
Having another blood test in a week, will let you know if it's good news.
Be well
After being able to drop 2 pills my blood work numbers are really good and may be able to drop another pill!!

Lets hope this result applies to MPN patients all round, and not the report that we have a lower protection after the 'C19' vaccine, Glad though you have had good news. Sorry this message was in reply to H2Ogal. ticked wrong box,
I'm hoping that it's good news for everyone and can help reduce the amount of chemo that is needed to treat MPN's. The Center for Disease Control has been in contact with me and I am filling out their paperwork. Cautiously optimistic.
That is great news . Keep us informed please, very interesting. Any comments from hemo on possibilities of why it mane happening? Would be good to know your platelets numbers before and after Pfizer. Thank you
She did not have any ideas, but I'll take a reduction on hydroxy anytime. Platelets before vaccine were 346 and 314 last test. May all your blood draws be painless...
Hi, thanks for posting this! It would be interesting to know if any other MPN patients have had this experience with the pfizer vaccine and which medication they are taking. Stay safe!
The vaccines do reduces platelets - this is a known outcome.
Question is - why??? It is a known result but not an expected result, and I have not seen an explanation of how.
Pfizer released data as to what happened up to 48 hours after the vaccine - (and only what was happening in rats - nothing for humans) the Biodistribution of lipid nanoparticles in the bone marrow is still going up.
Is this good for us, neutral for us, or bad for us? What is going to happen long term?
I would be interested in any research done on this - I cannot for the life of me find it yet, and do not want to consider (let alone take) the risk until I can see it. I have enough to contend with without unwittingly add anything more.
Interesting. I have all my blood tests from the past 15 years, although I was diagnosed just 4 yrs ago. Although my platelets have been steadily rising for 11 years, the year I got my meningitis vaccine (in Austria, before ET diagnosis) my platelets had gone down by 200! I’m curious if others have had such experiences. I had my first Pfizer 5 weeks ago, blood test next Monday and 2nd Pfizer 3 days later. Let’s see
I noticed a slight drop in my platelets after my Moderna vaccine. Had my shots back in April. My counts are usually stable between 430-460. CBC last week showed platelets at 408, the lowest in over 10 years. Could just be on the low end of normal expected fluctuation, but still an interesting coincidence that my lowest count occurred after my vaccine. All other blood counts appear to be unaffected.
