Antibody test

Received the NHS antibody test today.

Just done the finger prick blood test and now have to wait ten to 15 minutes for the test results. The accompanying letter states that the test cannot be 100% accurate on an individual basis so if the lines appear on the test it does not mean that you have antibodies just as if the lines do not appear it doesn’t mean you don’t have antibodies. So why are we testing if it is not showing a true reading? I feel like I used to while taking pregnancy tests lol.

Well according to the test kit I have no antibodies after two vaccinations of the Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccine. Feel utterly 😢

Sorry to hear that. That’s very frustrating. Maybe it was inaccurate. Can you take it again at another time?

🤷‍♀️ 🤷‍♀️ they just give you the test, a reference number and some questions to answer. You have to photograph the test stick as well.

What a disappointment. I am sorry

Sometimes ignorance is bliss ! I prefer not to know and assume some protection. X

I can’t be like that. I need to know I am safe for my husband’s sake as well as my own, in fact for the sake of anyone I come into contact with.

Better off not knowing . These tests aren’t accurate anyway. I wouldn’t bother doing another.

Sorry to read this. I pondered doing one of these tests but decided against it as so many on here seem to get this result. But as others have said, they are not 100% accurate and they don't look at T cell immunity. x

Hi Jill , , ,To be honest I wouldn't hold much store by your results , , I haven't had mine yet but from what I've heard I'm not holding my breath for a positive result. To me if it's not going to be done under lab conditions it is flawed and any nationwide result will be meaningless in the final analysis. We know this from the narrative I your accompanying letter. I hope your pregnancy testing was more reliable, , hmm did the leaflet say ' if the line moves into the red it doesn't necessarily mean you're pregnant, , but if it doesn't don't automatically assume you arent' 😃

I can’t help with the test kits but recently got my results for antibodies as we are on the Oxford survey where they come round and take bloods. My bloods taken 8 weeks after my first covid pfeizer jab and shows positive for antibodies. Husband showed the same positive result after his first Astra veneca jab so hopefully a lot of us are covered even if test kits are inaccurate

Hubby has a doctors appointment this morning so he is going to ask what I should do

Jill, that accompanying letter seems to contradict what the lines or lack of lines mean! It’s a real puzzle and makes us all wonder about this antibody testing. Don’t worry about your apparent result . Let us know how any more turn out. Fran xx
