Pegasys and high levels of liver enzyme or

Hi everyone! I was diagnosed with PV Jak2 back in 2012 and was advised to continue aspirin regimen with Phlebotomys every 3 months as I was not high risk. So, I turned 60 last fall (considered high risk now) and was placed on low dose Pegasys interferon. I've only been on this drug for 2 months and have been doing well with no side effects. The one blood marker that has been going up is the liver enzyme (ALT) It was always in the normal range prior. The first month of being on Pegasys it doubled and then the 2nd month it tripled. Is this normal until the liver gets used to the drug? I don't drink alcohol, no other drugs and exercise/eat healthy. Has anyone else had this happen who has been on Pegasys?

My haematologist recently gave me a 4 week holiday from taking Pegasys because my liver enzymes had increased to unacceptable levels. In my case it was my Gamma GT that was of the greatest concern. I had been on 90mcg and they restarted me on 45mcg. This proved to be too low a dose to stop my platelets from rising, so Guy’s have told me to alternate between 90 and 45mcg. I’ll find out in about 3 weeks, if this has stopped my platelets from going up, without irritating my liver any further. Guy’s have suggested, that if it does still aggravate my liver, the next step might be to take a lower dose and combine it with Hydroxy.

I switched from 7 day to 10 day interval between injections. This fixed my liver issues.
