COVID19!

Hello MPN brothers and sisters, just to share this situation. My sister-in-law works in school and three weeks ago she was vaccinated with first doze of AZ and yesterday she was tested positive with Covid19. She is feeling very polly. This is very concerning for us all we truly have to be very careful and protect ourselves, even we were vaccinated.

Wishing you all well

That is so worrying and I wish your sister the best healing thoughts ever. My hubby and I have decided to still keep away from people as much as we can even after our second jab. We certainly will never go out without a mask. The world has changed for ever for us. We are going out on our mobility scooters this afternoon to take flowers to the crematorium. Fresh air but able to keep away from people. I will say prayers tonight for your sister and everyone else fighting this awful virus xx

Thank you. We certainly use masks too even though I had my second dose and my husband had first, but as you said we use our masks all the time.

Hi,

Sorry to hear about that, hope she is ok.

With regards to hows its happened the timescales do mean its not out of the question something like this can happen.

The NHS/Government have been clear that immunity doesnt kick in until around 3 weeks after the vaccine, and the incubation period for Covid can be anything upto 14 days, although for most people will be less, but in theory your sister in law could have caught Covid just a handful of days after having her vaccine.

Even at the outside its probably she caught it 8 or 9 days ago, well within the period she wouldnt yet be seeing much in the way of protection from her vaccine.

Hope she gets better soon.

Sorry to hear this. Remember the vaccine does not necessarily stop infection but should be v effective in preventing hospitalisation. I hope she gets better soon. Jx

The vaccine doesn’t stop infection but symptoms or hopefully reduces symptoms and prevents hospitalization.

I am sorry to hear about your sister. I hope she gets well quickly. I had my 2nd Jab 3 days ago and was advised that if I get symptoms to contact the Covid service right away. Not because the jab can give me Covid but because I can still be infectious unknowingly. It is worth remembering that even after vaccination we can still be infectious to others while we might not have symptoms ourselves.

Hi, just update you all that my sister in law is better and it was not bad experience for her. Praise the Lord. But now her daughter is tested positive and she was not vaccinated.

Will a positive Covid-19 test affect the date for the second vaccination?
