Hi Happy48, , not wishing to fuel the flames of vaccine negativity I currently have continuos painful muscles mainly in my legs but also my arms feel weaker. Additionally my back issues to do with Osteoporosis are more troubling. This started about 2 weeks after having the Oxford AZ (6th Feb). Because of the delay I haven't linked it to the vaccine but having said that nothing else has changed meds wise and there's no obvious reason for it like me overdoing it.

It is so bad I saw my Haematologist and had a number of blood tests including one for muscle inflammation but all is clear so no hints there. She has referred me to a Rheumatologist at my local hospital but I'm wondering how long it will be before I'm seen given the backlog of appts generally.

I can tell something is amiss as I've been doing quite well this past 12 months and had nothing like my current level of discomfort even at rest so to find that you also have muscle weakness is thought provoking.

I'm contemplating my next move to move things forward.

Regards Chris

Thanks for replying. My pains started approx 2 weeks after having the jab. Also similar they are at the top of my legs and arms. I love rambling but feel exhausted after 30mins walk now. Fingers crossed it will subside.

Yes I'm hopeful that this will disappear as quickly as it arrived because it's quite draining physically. It could be just coincidence and there is no connection to either vaccine but I would still like to know what the cause is especially if it stays around. Take care

Sorry to hear of this development Chris. It must be worrying for you.

When my hubby was initially referred to a Rheumatologist (30 years ago) there was a waiting list of a year - a long time to be in pain. The Rheumatologist also took private patients. Hubby opted to go private for the first visit, got in the following week!!. He was then on his books for NHS treatment, it was worth every penny! It shouldn’t have to be that way though.

Yes Mary it is rather concerning as it's come out of the blue and there's no obvious reason. The pains are quite random as though something is moving about inside and giving me a kicking. Its mainly in my right leg but my general level of discomfort is in my leg & arm muscles and my back particularly shoulder blades. I can live with it but I need to know what is causing it. Whatever it is my morphine patch has no effect on it though I suppose it could be worse.

I might try and break through Fort Knox to see my GP as a next step.

My Sister also mentioned paying private for an initial assessment as her friend did the same as you .

Definitely push to see your GP Chris. It just maybe related to your osteoporosis, for instance, an issue with the cervical spine trapping a nerve could cause symptoms in the limbs. I’m not saying that’s what it is, but it would be sensible to at least rule it out.

So sorry to hear this, Chris. It’s so frustrating after you have been feeling pretty good this past year. Unfortunately, I feel that we are the guinea pigs of this Covid vaccine since there’s still so much that is unknown about it. I hope you get your appointment soon so you can figure out what is going on and get treated. Thinking of you,

Cindy

Thanks for your kind words there Cindy. It's not often I'm in a quandary but whatever is happening has me stumped. It's so hard to evidence as there are no outward signs like redness or swelling etc and my bloods were all ok. All good points in my favour. But I know my body better than anyone as most folk living with chronic conditions do and I know something unlike anything ive had before is affecting my muscle areas. And trying to move things forward just now is frustrating as you say.

Take care - Chris

I had the Pfizer vaccin 23 January. No pain or soreness at all. No red arm after injection , no feeling of being ill. Just a tiny little head ache but that appeared two days after so not proven to be the vaccin really.

I had my 1st pfizer shot 3 weeks ago and 3 days after something bad happened to my lower back. I have no idea what I did to cause this. I hope it isn't because of the vaccine because I had my 2nd shot yesterday. I am sitting on a heating pad now because after 3 weeks it still hurts. I can’t even tie my own sneakers & husband has to help me put on socks. I actually went to my regular dr & I mentioned that I got the vaccine a few days before but he didn’t think it was related. He thinks I twisted when I should have turned..in other words, I’m getting old! lol.

On a positive note, I only have a slightly sore arm after yesterday’s vaccine. Keeping my fingers crossed that tomorrow (3rd day after second shot) my back doesn’t get worse.

About 2 weeks after my boyfriend’s second jab, there were a few days that he felt achy and out of sorts. But then he recovered, and he’s fine now. I also have a client who ended up in the hospital for a week with muscle weakness so bad she couldn’t walk. The doctors told her it was probably due to the vaccine. But she has a lot of pre-existing conditions and has been taking opioids for pain for years. I just don’t think there is enough knowledge about the vaccine and interactions with other medications and pre-existing conditions. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi our daughter had your vaccine four weeks ago and still has arm pain. What shocked me was the rash it was huge although gone now but it cover from the needle point of entry down to her elbow. She has a heart defect but thankfully hasn't had any effects regarding that side of things.
